If only your heart knew

When you laid your eyes upon her face
you couldn't stand the shine and turned your glance
not that far away but to her friend by her side
-
You elevated her; you called Plato to help out with your feelings
And the shadow of your flame
became a filthy touch of care and warmth
by a faithful teddy bear
-
Can't blame others but yourself for your timidity
Can't blame other than your fear for your obsession to divide
and shield your heart with ideals
-
Now take a moment and just think-
how do you think they have both felt?
The one loved but untouched
the other touched but unloved
-
But that's what you get
when a child is thrown into a cave without a torch
he turns his back to the fire
and messes up with both.
A strong pedal stroke and no goodbyes.
-
Now our best thoughts are with that boy
who marks upon strangers lines and shadows to forget
the boy who run from himself and strives to be a man
to draw the shapes of his regret
